Abstract

This article demonstrates the research about the oil painted picture in 1933 by artist Tarsila do Amaral, called Second Class. In this way, the research starts from the questioning about the vulnerability provoked by the context of misery and uncertainties portrayed on the picture. The theme is significant for studies in law and literature, considering that the artistic work clearly criticizes capitalism and presents a tone of social denunciation. The objective of the research is to demonstrate, from the intersection between Law and Art, how much poverty segregates the human being and that this situation was reinforced by the rural exodus denounced on the picture. As a way of presenting the proposed theme, the deductive method was used as an approach method. Finally, for the collection and analysis of the researched materials, indirect documentary research and indirect bibliographic research were used as research techniques, using works referring to researchers of the proposed theme, as well as articles and scientific journals directed to the subject. As a theoretical contribution, the foundation is based on legal and sociological works, considering the pressing challenge and the need to integrate these areas, for the realization of the rights of minorities.
